The first baby steps

July 21, 2008

Hey all,

Thought it’d be easier for all the people I know to start a blog for my upcoming one year stay in China instead of continuing with emails, forumposts ect. in different languages, so hopefully this will work.

First some background: In February I was granted a scholarship to go to China and study for a year. Having spent one semester in Beijing in 2006 this was a very very pleasant surprise and I said yes on the spot.

This time I’ll be going to Zhejiang Province to attend Zhejiang University in Hangzhou, which is located a few hours southeast of Shanghai. I’ve only been to Hangzhou once very briefly as a tourist so I’m excited about what the city has to offer. I also have no knowledge of the city and at the moment I have no clue as how to get a flat there, but I guess I’ll cross that bridge when I get to it.

Right now time is being spent with moving out from my current flat, getting my shots, writing more applications for scholarships and arranging a doctors appointment for a health application that needs to be filled out for my visa application. Those crazy Chinese are keen to learn if I have such diseases as leprosy or the plague (I’m not kidding, they really want to know that!).

Have also booked my planeticket today so my new  adventure will begin one month from day August 21.
